Step 1: Understand Broker Requirements
AGE & RESIDENCY
You must be at least 18 years old. Non-California residents should refer to the Out-of-State Applicants guidelines.
Applicants need at least two years of full-time licensed salesperson (or equivalent) experience within the last five years or a four-year college degree with a major or minor in Real Estate.
Applicants must be honest and truthful. Conviction of a crime may result in the denial of a license.
You must complete eight college-level courses, including:
- Real Estate Practice (SB 1495 Compliant)
- Legal Aspects of Real Estate
- Real Estate Finance
- Real Estate Appraisal
- Real Estate Economics

Can previous college courses count?
Yes, certain previously completed college courses in subjects like Economics, Accounting, or Business Law may count towards course requirements.
After completing the course and education requirements, you may apply to the DRE to take the broker state exam. You will have to pass a closed-book 200 multiple choice, four hour exam with a WEIGHTED 75% or better. The pass rate is below 50% statewide, so we specialize in preparing students to pass the state exam!
SB 1495 changed the requirements of the Practice course in 2024
SB 1495 ensures that every new and returning license applicant is educated on both bias awareness and fair housing practices through a fully integrated Real Estate Practice course. If your existing course lacks these updates and your application is for 2024 or later, you’re required to retake the entire course—there’s no shortcut.

State Exam Preparation Practice Questions
State Exam Preparation Practice Question Online Program containing over 3,650 fully-explained practice questions. You will have access to the constantly updated online program of practice questions for six months upon activation! There are premade exams that simulate the state exam as well as questions categorized into the seven areas of the state exam to assist with concentrated studying of topics.
State Exam Preparation Vocabulary Flashcards
Access approximately 500 digital flashcards to assist with vocabulary preparation. Access for six months upon activation with regular content updates.
Interactive State Exam Preparation Workbook
A physical workbook that coincides with state exam preparation lecture. Students fill out the workbook as they follow their lecture option: prerecorded video, virtual class, or in-person class.

Live VIRTUAL or IN-PERSON State Exam Preparation Class
Live VIRTUAL or IN-PERSON state exam preparation instruction from the most qualified instuctors in the industry. It will be seven weeknights of lecture from 6pm-9:30pm. The virtual option is streamed via Zoom whereas the in-person option is at our location 7840 Madison Ave #149, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.

Quick Completion
Students are eligible to complete each course in a minimum of 18 days and maximum of one year per DRE regulation (e.g., 5 courses x 18 days each = 90 days minimum).
Course Exams
Each course has an online, open-book, 100 multiple-choice question final exam with a three hour time limit. A score of 60% or better is required to pass.
